Christian Ecker Book

Two premises can be found in the oeuvre of the Salzburg artist Christian Ecker: the human figure and conceptual material objects. These appear again and again in different phases of his work, running like a red thread through his work. In particular, his abstract objects, which he calls windings, have been present in recent years not only as wall objects, but also in the context of works in public space. In 2019, the artist decided to publish a 144-page catalogue of his previous artistic work, which I designed.

The design of the book is kept rather simple so that the focus remains on the artworks and is not distracted by opulent design. It was also important to me to adapt the visual language of the book to that of the artist. A special feature is the cover, which is completely free of additional text except for the title on the spine. This emphasizes the plasticity of the image on the cover even more and creates the impression that the book is one of Eckers art objects.
